Emre Can has 10 days to prove his fitness for the Champions League final.
The midfielder is yet to make an appearance for Liverpool since injuring a bone in his back during the mid-March win over Watford.
Can, whose current Anfield contract expires this summer, will miss the Reds’ final two Premier League games of this season against Chelsea and Brighton.
But Jurgen Klopp is hopeful that the Germany international will be available to feature in the May 26 showpiece against European champions Real Madrid.
In addition to Can, the Liverpool manager also expects Joe Gomez to recover from a knock picked up during last weekend’s goalless draw with Stoke City.
“An important day for Emre is next Monday and then we can make the decision if he starts training with us immediately or not,” said Klopp.
“It would only be good news for the final, probably not for the last game of the season.
“Joe is still waiting for final assessment so we can really figure out what it is exactly.
“We will know about it in a few days probably, but he is not available for Chelsea.”
