Joe Gomez believes Liverpool’s attack can be their best form of defence against Roma.
Wednesday’s return leg of the Champions League semi-final sees Jurgen Klopp’s side taking a three-goal advantage to the Stadio Olimpico.
The Serie A giants overturned a similar margin in their last eight encounter against Barcelona, previously one of the competition’s overriding favourites.
But Gomez is adamant that the Reds’ attacking trident of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino remains key to progressing to the final.
He said: “We’ve shown this season our best form of defence is attack, so we’ll probably just do that again.
“Obviously we will be wary they have their threats and the two goals they scored will keep us on our toes. We will be defensively aware.
“I don’t think we can go there and afford to just sit off and try to defend the whole game because that will bring pressure and that’s not the type of football we play.
“We want to go there on the front foot and try to add to the goals.”
