Liverpool line up move for Barcelona stopper

Liverpool are reportedly lining up a move for Barcelona’s Jasper Cillessen.

Cillessen has made just nine appearances this season as he remains behind Marc-Andre ter Stegen in the Nou Camp’s goalkeeping pecking order.

But reports in Catalonia suggest that the 28-year-old is set to face a summer scramble for his signature with the Reds said to be among the chasing pack.

Mundo Deportivo claim that Jurgen Klopp is preparing to battle it out with Napoli and Atletico Madrid in the hunt for Cillessen’s signature.

Atleti’s interest in the Holland international emerges amid uncertainty over Jan Oblak’s long-term future as he has yet to agree a contract extension.

Cillessen has also courted interest from Napoli as they appear resigned to losing ex-Liverpool stopper Pepe Reina to Serie A rivals AC Milan this summer.

Klopp has settled on Loris Karius as his preferred goalkeeper this season with the German displacing Simon Mignolet in between the sticks at Anfield.

According to Mundo Deportivo, however, Liverpool have outlined their interest in Cillessen and allegedly offered him a guarantee as the club’s first-choice.
