Jurgen Klopp enthused that his Liverpool side fully deserved their ‘perfect’ win over Manchester United.
A first-half penalty from Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino’s strike after the interval handed the Reds the upper hand of their Europa League last 16 encounter with Louis van Gaal’s side.
And Klopp was delighted by the performance delivered on a memorable European night at Anfield.
He said: “We have not found it easy to make chances against Manchester United in the past but tonight there were a lot. I think 2-0 is a perfect result.
“Everything is OK, nothing to criticise. Tonight we were good from the first minute to the last, and apart from a few minutes in the second half when United changed their system, we controlled the game.
“It is only the first leg, but we needed to win it, and that’s what we did.”
