Premier League midfielder on Liverpool’s radar

Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina.

Lemina moved to St Mary’s from Juventus last summer and has caught the eye in his opening 19 appearances for the struggling South Coast club.

But reports in France claim that the 24-year-old could become the seventh player to move from Mauricio Pellegrino’s side to Anfield in the past four years.

According to L’Equipe, the Reds have identified Lemina as a potential foil for the incoming Naby Keita, who will arrive from RB Leipzig on July 1.

Relations between Liverpool and Southampton have been improved by Virgil van Dijk’s £75 million move last month, which ended a brief spell of animosity between the clubs.

Aside from Van Dijk, a further five players have made the move to Merseyside from the Saints, including Sadio Mane, Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne.
