Review: Vincent Cafe & Cocktail Bar New Menu

Vincent Cafe and Cocktail Bar has been a firm foodie favourite since it’s opening in 2015. The stunning restaurant is nestled in the corner of Exchange Flags and helped lead a food and drink revolution in the Business district of the city.

Recently a new menu was launched that features all of the Vincent favourites including Sushi, Gringo Sushi and their special smores dessert platter but also now includes a host of vegetarian and vegan options. Those who would prefer to avoid meat can be treated to options including Chicory & orange tartlets, Wild Mushroom Ravioli  and Passionfruit and Tonka Bean cheesecake.

To start we opted for the Vincent Prawn and Crayfish Cocktail. It’s an oldie but a goodie and came served in true Vincent style. The dish was well balanced with plenty of prawn and crayfish. As starters go, it was a decent size and quite filling. It’s clear that the team at Vincent go above and beyond when it comes to presentation and this starter definitely displays their talent well.

For an alternative, we also opted for some “Gringo Sushi” as a starter. The two we tried were the Roasted Crispy Duck with Mango Puree and the Barbeque Pulled Pork. Not a fan of traditional Sushi, this was right up our street and was absolutely delicious. Light enough to share as a starter  but also, a little more and you could be full up for a dinner. It was great to see the creative options available and I will definitely be returning to try the others.

For a main course, I opted for a Rump of Lamb. This was cooked to absolute perfection and was by far some of the nicest lamb that I have ever tasted. It was delicate, melt in the mouth perfection. The lamb comes served with pomme Anna, peas and minted jus. Everything on the plate tastes absolutely delicious and this is a highly recommended main course.

My dining partner opted for the Fillet Steak. Again, this was served beautifully as well as cooked to perfection. This comes served with all of the traditional steak sides that you would expect and a choice of Bernaise or Peppercorn Sauce. The chips are delicious and plentiful. The steak is of the highest possible quality and the taste is sensational.

To finish up we opted for the sharing dessert platter which basically gives you a small amount of all of the desserts on the menu. We opted for this as we were very full and had thought this would be a lighter option however this was not the case. There is plenty of pudding on the platter with our personal favourite being the Creme Brulee.

Liverpool is a city full of bars and restaurants however Vincent stands out in the crowd. It has something for everyone – at lunch you can enjoy 2 courses for £8 but it also caters to the high end market with one customer spending £1522 on a deliveroo order. It’s a place you could go with friends, or family and have a great time either way.

It’s stunning decor and outstanding staff means that whether you are popping in for a quick lunch or are going for an all out celebration – your going to feel like you’ve had a taste of true luxury.
