Arsenal legend Thierry Henry expects Liverpool will challenge for the Premier League title next season.
Ahead of Thursday’s Europa League semi-final with Villarreal, the Reds’ domestic fortunes have become a relative write-off in Jurgen Klopp’s first half-campaign in charge.
But Henry, a two-time Premier League winner with the Gunners, is anticipating big things from the Anfield club in the forthcoming 2016-17 season.
Henry was a , believes that the arrival of Jurgen Klopp is the reason for Liverpool’s improvement.
He said: “I think Liverpool, if they didn’t lose to Southampton, would’ve been there challenging for the top four.
“Next season they will challenge for the title I think under Klopp.”
Former Barcelona striker Henry also believes that Liverpool already bear the hallmarks of Klopp’s high-intensity approach, barely six months since he was appointed Brendan Rodgers’ successor.
“Klopp likes to play in a certain way and intensity is the word I use for him,” he added.
For a little while now they’ve been playing the Klopp way and people are seeing and understanding what’s happening.”
