Liverpool FC set to discover fate of Danny Ings compensation fee this week

Liverpool are set to discover how much they must pay Burnley in compensation for Danny Ings this week.

Ings moved to Anfield last summer following the expiration of his contract at Turf Moor, however due to the England international being under the age of 24, the Championship are entitled to a development fee in compensation.

Until now the the two clubs have been unable to agree on an acceptable amount to be paid, so a tribunal hearing is set for tomorrow in Manchester.

Ings’ 43 goals during his time at Burnley attracted the attention of Tottenham, as well as the Reds and Burnley anticipate a fee closer to Ings’ previous valuation of £10 million to be awarded.

The tribunal has given no confirmation on when they will reach a final decision, due to the amount of paperwork to be assessed, however Liverpool are hopeful that a conclusion can be reached this week.

Ings has endured a frustrating start to his Anfield career, suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury in October, however manager Jurgen Klopp revealed this week that he could return before the end of the season.
