Liverpool are planning to offer Roberto Firmino a new lifetime contract.
Firmino’s current deal is set to expire in 2020 but the Reds are keen to secure his long-term future in the wake of Philiippe Coutinho’s move to Barcelona.
The Brazil international left Anfield in a £142 million switch but Anfield chiefs are keen to avoid a repeat scenario occurring with his compatriot and other clubs.
Several key figures of Liverpool’s current squad are expected to be offered similar deals to Firmino, who is set to enter into formal negotiations in the near future.
They include current leading scorer Mohamed Salah and forward Sadio Mane in efforts to ward off several of the club’s European rivals swooping on Merseyside.
Jurgen Klopp has made Firmino a focal point of Liverpool’s attack since succeeding Brendan Rodgers in 2015, scoring 39 times in 120 outings.
