Neymar backs Liverpool star to shine at World Cup

Neymar has backed Mohamed Salah to be a big hit at next year’s World Cup.

Salah has hit the ground running since joining Liverpool in the summer and currently has 20 goals in all competitions to his name so far this season.

He has also enjoyed success on the international stage, scoring a dramatic last-minute penalty in October to send Egypt to the finals in Russia.

It will be the first World Cup involving the Pharaohs since 1990 and capped off an excellent 2017 in which he was also named African Footballer of the Year.

And Neymar, who hit the headlines with a €222 million move to Paris Saint-Germain, believes Salah will be among the runners and riders at the World Cup.

“The most well-known contenders [to win the World Cup] are the usual favourites,” he told Globo.

“In addition to Brazil, there is Germany, Spain, France and Argentina, these contenders are highlights in any tournament in which they participate, right?

“I think surprisingly, Belgium have a great team, and Salah is well, is a great player and can make a difference in the World Cup.”
