Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane face a 9,000-mile round trip before Liverpool’s FA Cup clash with Everton.
The pair are due to appear at the CAF Awards on January 4 in Accra, just 24 hours before the Reds will play their Merseyside derby third round tie.
Salah is the favourite to be crowned Player of the Year at the gala in the Ghanaian capital after an impressive 2017 for both club and country.
He was crowned the African Player of the Year earlier this month after helping Egypt reach the World Cup while also flourishing with Liverpool.
Abou Rida, the Egyptian FA’s president, has revealed that the former Roma and Chelsea winger is expected to appear at the CAF’s flagship event next month.
He said: “Mohamed Salah in a leading position until now regarding the voting for CAF player of the year and he will attend the CAF awards Gala in Ghana 4th of January.”
Mane, who finished behind Salah in the running for African Player of the Year, is also expected to make an appearance which would further disrupt Liverpool’s FA Cup preparations.
Both the Senegal international and his teammate have already contributed a combined 27 goals for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season.
Salah recorded his 20th goal of the season as Liverpool ran out 4-0 winners over Bournemouth on Sunday.
