Christmas Concert for a Cure returns to Liverpool

Charity North West Cancer Research is bringing it’s Christmas ‘Concert for a Cure’ back to Liverpool for the third year running.

Located in Lutyens Crypt, the grand hall tucked beneath Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, the carol service will take place on Sunday 10th December from 3pm.

Proceeds from tickets, priced at £10 per person, will go towards funding for life-saving cancer research underway at the North West Cancer Research Centre at the University of Liverpool.

Birkenhead Operatic Society Trust (BOST) will lead the service which will feature both traditional carols and well-loved festive classics to get guests in the Christmas spirit.

Each year hundreds of the charity’s supporters, volunteers and fundraisers come together to celebrate the importance of the cancer research their efforts have supported, as we as reflect on those who have been affected the disease.

NWCR has committed to funding more than £13million worth of cancer research over the next five years. This includes £1million worth of funding to sustain the North West Cancer Research Centre at the University of Liverpool until 2021.

Alastair Richards, CEO North West Cancer Research, said: “Concert for a Cure is a highlight of our fundraising and events calendar. It’s great to see our fundraisers, supporters and researchers come together to celebrate and reflect on the year’s efforts.

“2017 has been a significant year for the charity, as we have continued to build on our commitment to funding the very best research here in Liverpool and across the North West.

“Cancer is one of the biggest killers in the North West. Thanks to research more than half of all people diagnosed with cancer today, survive.

“But more still needs to be done and this is where our supporters have a vital role to play – every penny they raise is important. On behalf of everyone at North West Cancer Research I would like to express my thanks to each and every one of our supporters.

“By working together, we can help stop cancer sooner.”

Concert for a Cure will take place on Sunday 10th December at 3pm (doors open at 2.30pm) at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, Lutyens Crypt.

Tickets cost £10 for adults and £6 concessions for the over 70’s and under 16.
