Liverpool Ice festival is back and better than ever

Liverpool’s famous Ice Festival has opened it’s doors for the 2017 festive season to rave reviews.

Based in it’s stunning Pier Head home the ice festival is set to dazzle visitors over the next 6 weeks. Following the success of 2016 the ice festival will be open until 7th January 2018.

There are tonnes of things to do including ice skating under the fantastic Liver Buildings and visiting stalls selling festive wares across the site.

For thrillseekers there is a 100ft ice slide based on site which is not for the feint hearted. And if that isn’t enough there is a high-speed bobsleigh ride that reaches up to 80 mph and is one of only three in the world.

In an attempt to rival other Christmas events, there are 50 different German Market Stalls based at the pier head this year meaning those who want a little retail therapy after their ice based escapades can do so.

Perhaps the biggest, and best, feature of the festival is the Enchanted Forest Ice Bar – each visitor gets 25 minutes in sub zero temperatures surrounded by some of the biggest and best ice sculptures that Liverpool has ever seen.

You are provided with warming blankets and a shot whilst you make your way around the various sculptures. Children are also welcome in the ice bar – and provided with a non-alcoholic shot. Frozen fans will love the bar, as it features a life size Elsa sculpture.

For those a little less fond of sub-zero temperatures there is an Apres bar that serves all of the usual alcoholic beverages in a cosy ski-lodge style environment. In the run up to Christmas there will be DJ’s covering the Apres Bar until the late evenings.

There really is something for everyone with stalls selling traditional frankfurters, stone baked pizzas, waffles, hog roasts and crepes. And when you’ve worked up a thirst you can treat yourself to specialist Hot Chocolates and Mulled Wine.

Tickets for the ice festival can be booked here  – http://icefestivalliverpool.co.uk/ and prices start from £5.
