Adam Lallana is ‘knocking on the door’ to make his Liverpool comeback.
Lallana last featured for the Reds in their final game of the previous Premier League campaign after suffering a hamstring injury during pre-season.
But the England international is closing in on a return to action for Jurgen Klopp’s side since rejoining first-team training in the previous week.
The Liverpool manager remains cautious about Lallana’s reintegration, with a cameo in Tuesday’s Champions League encounter with Sevilla unlikely.
However Klopp has hinted that the 29-year-old is making significant steps towards staking a regular claim in the starting line-up at Anfield.
“He is getting nearer and nearer,” said Klopp.
“But we need him for the rest of the season and not for the next weeks.
“He is really knocking on the door and it’s fantastic that he is back. It’s great.”
