Clyne left out of Liverpool FC’s Champions League squad

Nathaniel Clyne is a notable absentee from Liverpool’s Champions League squad.

The England international has yet to feature for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season owning to a back injury sustained during pre-season preparations.

But fears over the severity of Clyne’s problem have emerged following his omission from the Reds’ squad for their forthcoming Group E campaign.

Concerns about the 26-year-old have been heightened by Adam Lallana’s inclusion despite currently being sidelined until November with a thigh injury.

Liverpool are expected to call on Trent Alexander-Arnold, who scored in last month’s play-off win over Hoffenheim, and Joe Gomez during Clyne’s absence.

Also failing to make the 32-man squad list was Danny Ings and Lazar Markovic amid ongoing uncertainty over their futures at Anfield.

Young defender Conor Masterson is a surprise inclusion in Klopp’s team that will take on Sevilla, Spartak Moscow and Maribor between now and early December.
