Liverpool FC pushing for record Thomas Lemar deal

Liverpool are pushing to sign Monaco’s Thomas Lemar before this week’s transfer deadline.

The France international was previously a target for Arsenal earlier this summer but is currently the subject of strong interest from Anfield.

Lemar’s versatility as both a midfielder and attacker makes him an enticing prospect to slot into Jurgen Klopp’s interchangeable Reds’ line-up.

A club-record of £70 million will be offered to Monaco for the 21-year-old as Liverpool look to tie up a deal before the transfer window closes on Thursday.

Divock Origi could be offered as a makeweight in efforts to further appease the reigning Ligue 1 champions into parting with Lemar.

Klopp refused to rule out the Belgium striker’s departure after Liverpool’s resounding win over Arsenal on Sunday, saying “We will see.

“That’s not something to talk about here. If players come in, I think it makes sense to think about what we do on the other side.

“They’re obviously involved in this (the players). I’m not sure, we will see, you have to wait.

“No games now so I hope you can enjoy the next five or six days with all the rumours and all that stuff.

“I’m not looking forward to it but it’s part of the game.”
