Liverpool target Virgil van Dijk remains intent on leaving Southampton.
Van Dijk is currently in training in isolation at the South Coast club after being omitted from their pre-season trip to France for intimating his desire to depart.
The Holland international was previously targeted by the Reds only for their pursuit to be ended by the threat of potential ‘tapping up’ accusations.
Van Dijk has not featured for the Saints since suffering a knee injury in January but is making good progress on a planned return to first-team action.
However Mauricio Pellegrino is preparing to start his side’s new Premier League season without Van Dijk as the stand-off over his future continues.
According to the Daily Echo, the one-time Liverpool defender will omit Van Dijk from the August 12 opener with Swansea City with his position still entrenched.
Southampton remain unwilling to sell the 26-year-old at any price this summer despite his eagerness to secure a move to Anfield.
