Liverpool FC locked in tussle for sought-after Bundesliga midfielder

Liverpool are locked in a battle with Europe’s top clubs over Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud.

The talented 20-year-old has played a starring role for the fifth-placed Bundesliga club and is a target for Reds manager Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp faces competition from a number of other sides for Dahoud’s signature, with Europa League opponents Borussia Dortmund and Premier League rivals Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham also rumoured to be interested.

But Liverpool hope that the fact that the Syrian-born Germany Under-21 player has the same agent as Emre Can could work to their advantage during negotiations.

Monchengladbach remain commited to keeping their star man this summer, but reports suggest bids of over £25 million would be considered by the North-Rhein Westphalia club, with the player believed to favour a move to an established Champions League club.
