Liverpool have turned to Faouzi Ghoulam to solve their left-back dilemma.
Interest in the defender comes after it emerged on Thursday that Napoli had failed to tempt the Reds to part with Alberto Moreno with an £11 milion bid.
However Moreno’s predicament could help Jurgen Klopp address his problems at left-back, where midfielder James Milner deputised for most of last season.
A £15m asking price has been set for the former Spain international but could now be used as a bargaining chip in Liverpool’s revived pursuit of Ghoulam.
Ghoulam joined Napoli in 2014 under ex-Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez, who beat off competition from both Manchester City and Cheisea for his signature.
He contributed to 11 clean sheets in 41 appearances for the Serie A side during the 2016/17 campaign as they went on to secure a third-place finish.
The Daily Mail claim that the Algeria international has emerged as a viable option alongside several high-profile targets including Monaco’s Benjamin Mendy.
With the Ligue 1 champion expected to move to the Etihad Stadium, Ghoulam is consider a more realistic target alongside Leicester defender Ben Chilwell.
Fulham youngster Ryan Sessegnon is also on Klopp’s radar but could be tempted to move across the capital with Tottenham weighing up a move for the teenager.
