Independents’ Week is coming to Liverpool, showcasing the best local businesses in the city.
Kicking off on July 3, a host of events will be taking place across the city celebrating Liverpool’s diverse and world-renown independent scene.
At the heart of the celebrations will be independent businesses from Castle Street, Old Hall Street, the Cavern Quarter, Church Street, Metquarter and Bold Street.
On July 4, independent business owners can attend a networking breakfast, where they can mingle in Oh Me, Oh My on Water Street from 8.30am onward.
The market will have stalls from independent businesses, face painting, street entertainment, arts & craft stalls, a pop-up kitchen and more.
This year’s celebration of Liverpool’s thriving independent scene will conclude with a farmer’s market, taking over Bold Street.
Nisha Katona, founder of Indian restaurant Mowgli, said: “Independents’ Week is a great way to raise the profile of the many amazing independent businesses we have in the city centre – from restaurants and eateries to delightful traders selling all sorts of unique and wonderful products you won’t get elsewhere.
“Thanks to Liverpool BID Company, we have an opportunity to say ‘look, we are here – come in and take a look’.
“Many people will discover what is on offer here – perhaps for the first time – and the hope is that they come back to see us again next time they are in the city centre.”
Bill Addy, chief executive of Independents’ Week organisers Liverpool BID Company, added: “One of the main aims of Liverpool BID Company is to drive more people – both locals and visitors – into our areas, to use our amazing businesses.
“It is also vital to Liverpool’s growth as a global city that the city continues to foster a strong and robust independent scene on the high street.
“It is these businesses on Bold Street, Church Street, Castle Street, Metquarter and the Cavern Quarter, that really make Liverpool unique, and Independents’ Week is about celebrating that, and creating an event that will spur on their future success.
“Independents’ Week is also about strengthening the relationships within the local independent business community – giving them a platform to share their entrepreneurial spirit and encourage them to work together in the future to continue their prosperity.”
