Liverpool Food & Drink Festival unveils 10th birthday line-up

Liverpool’s Food and Drink Festival will return this autumn for a 10th year running.

Hosted by Simon Rimmer, weekly host of Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, along with fellow Merseyside chefs, Paul Askew, Nisha Katona and Aiden Byrne.

Askew is currently competing on BBC 2’s Great British Menu, has made an appearance at the Food and Drinks Festival since its inauguration back in 2007.

Nisha Katona is a regular chef on ITV’s This Morning and is also the owner of the city’s popular Indian restaurant Mowgli.

The youngest to ever be presented with a Michelen Star award at just 22, Kirkby-based Byrne has made appearances on Masterchef and Great British Menu.

The chefs will come together to host a weekend with cooking fans in an intimate setting where the chefs will demonstrate their skills and then serve guests the meals they cooked.

Speaking about returning to the festival, Wirral-born Rimmer said: “Liverpool boasts some fantastic culinary talent and the high calibre of young chefs coming through is testament to the city’s thriving food and drink scene.

“Liverpool Food and Drink Festival is a great opportunity to celebrate the city’s success and its growing reputation for food and drink excellence.

“It’s a real honour to be hosting the culinary feast, which will showcase such talented local chefs as Aiden, Paul and Nisha.

“They are all great ambassadors for the city’s food and drink sector and I love the ‘demo and dine’ format; it’s going to be a lot of fun!”

The festival takes place on September 16 and 17 in Sefton Park, which will be transformed into a food-lovers paradise.

Tickets to Simon Rimmer’s culinary feast cost £29.50 and must be booked in advance.
