Steven Gerrard believes Liverpool are in a strong position to land their top targets this summer.
After securing Champions League football with a top four finish, the Reds are set for a major overhaul in the summer transfer window
Owners Fenway Sports Group are thought to be willing to arm Jurgen Klopp with a £100 million war chest to ensure he can sign the players he wants.
Improving the defence will be a priority and a £50m move for Southampton centre-back Virgil Van Dijk has been heavily mooted.
Fulham full-back Ryan Sessegnon is another target as the Reds look to secure a long-term left-back, with James Milner having played the role all season.
Their chances of signing their top targets were handed a major boost by securing Champions League football with a 3-0 win over Middlesbrough on the final day of the season.
However Gerrard, who will take charge of the club’s under-18s side next season, believes that the magnetism of Klopp could prove a crucial factor in securing key targets.
He said: “If Jurgen Klopp had been at the club three or four years, I believe I would have been part of him delivering big trophies.
“It’s how he makes you feel. I went to play in a friendly and felt like it was the World Cup final. We’re blessed to have him.
“If I’m a top player around Europe and Jurgen picks the phone up and I get offered the chance to play for this club, which is moving forward in every single department and has a world class manager leading it, I’d be jumping at that opportunity.
“I want to play for him and I am 37 next week! For me, it’s such an exciting project. Not just because we qualified for the Champions League but the whole project.”
