Emre Can will miss the start of Liverpool’s pre-season campaign.
The Germany midfielder has received a call-up to represent his country for the world champions’ Confederations Cup campaign in Russia from next month.
Should Joachim Low’s side reach the tournament’s final on July 2, Can is unlikely to report back for training duty with the Reds until the end of that month.
That would see him ruled out for the pre-season tour of the Far East, with Jurgen Klopp set to offer a recovery period from his international exploits.
Negotiations over the 23-year-old’s Anfield future are set to conclude during the close season, with Can preparing to enter the final 12 months of his current deal.
Can had previously missed Liverpool’s maiden pre-season campaign under Klopp due to Germany’s involvement in the semi-final of Euro 2016 last summer.
