Daniel Sturridge risks being overlooked by Jurgen Klopp for Liverpool’s clash with Borussia Dortmund tonight.
The England international was influential in the Reds’ progress into the Europa League quarter-final after opening the scoring against Manchester United in the previous round but could be marginalised for this evening’s meeting at Signal Iduna Park.
Sturridge’s prolonged spells of injury mean that he lacks complete match fitness, which has prompted the Liverpool manager to mull over whether the pace of understudy Divock Origi would be better suited to facing Dortmund, given the Bundesliga club’s high-pressing approach.
Klopp will make his decision following Liverpool’s final training session this morning and will decide on whether to include Roberto Firmino in his starting line-up after the Brazilian forward travelled with the squad to Germany following a fortnight’s absence with a hamstring problem.
