Dejan Lovren will make strides towards his Liverpool comeback by featuring for the club’s under-23 side.
Lovren was absence for the Reds’ win over Burnley last weekend and has not featured since Chelsea’s visit at the end of January due to a persistent knee issue.
The Croatia international travelled to Germany in a bid to seek specialist treatment on the problem but has yet to make a first-team appearance since.
He will, however, feature against the same opposition that he last made a senior appearance for Jurgen Klopp’s side in tonight’s Premier League 2 encounter.
Liverpool have named Lovren among their U23 squad that will face Chelsea at Prenton Park on Monday as he aims to return to the first-team fold.
Klopp has trialled a number of alternatives in the 27-year-old’s absence, with Ragnar Klavan and even midfielder Lucas Leiva both deployed alongside Joel Matip.
