Liverpool FC legend fires Jurgen Klopp warning

Jamie Carragher has warned Jurgen Klopp that Liverpool must change their approach or risk missing out on Champions League qualification.

A 2-0 defeat to Hull City saw the Reds’ faded hopes of a Premier League title challenge condemned after winning just one of their previous 10 games.

Liverpool could potentially fall out of the top four this weekend in the event of Manchester City overcoming Swansea on Sunday afternoon.

And Anfield legend Carragher believes that his former club may face a fight to reach Europe’s premier club competition if they continue in their current form.

He said: “It’s not rocket science now how you beat Liverpool.

“I think every manager in the league except the top five will employ Hull’s tactics against Liverpool – they are too easy to beat.

“There’s things in this Liverpool team that at times you kid yourself that it’s ok. Lucas (Leiva) at centre back and (James) Milner left-back.

“If the form Liverpool are in continues in the next few weeks the chances of top four will be gone very quickly.

“If you look at the bench it looks stronger than the last few weeks but the manager’s waited too long to make a change recently.”

Carragher has called on Klopp to sign a new goalkeeper after Simon Mignolet was at fault as Alfred N’Diaye helped the hosts take the lead at the Kcom Stadium.

The Belgium international was restored as the Reds’ first-choice stopper in mid-December following a series of high-profile errors by challenger Loris Karius.

But Carragher believes that Klopp must make a definitive number-one his priority in the summer.

“Simon Mignolet showed again today why Liverpool need to sign a goalkeeper. He is not decisive enough,” he added.

“Liverpool will do nothing, try to win trophies and get Champions League places in the coming years with the goalkeepers they have.”
