Revealed: Bournemouth targeted Liverpool FC’s ‘weakness’

Steve Cook has revealed that Bournemouth targeted Loris Karius during their 4-3 win over Liverpool.

Karius came under fire after the Reds surrendered a two-goal lead on successive occasions on the South Coast as the Cherries completed a spirited fightback.

The Germany goalkeeper has endured a difficult opening months to his Anfield career after replacing Simon Mignolet following his arrival from Mainz.

And Bournemouth defender Cook, who was among the goals, admitted that Karius’ weaknesses were preyed upon at the Vitality Stadium last weekend.

“I’ve got to be honest we did [target Karius],” he told TalkSport.

“We felt that he was under a lot of pressure, obviously playing for Liverpool you’ve got to be a very strong character.

“But we did target him, we tried to press him as much and get as many shots off as possible.

“We did target him as a weakness in the Liverpool side.”
