Jurgen Klopp believes that Philippe Coutinho’s future lies with Liverpool despite Barcelona’s continued interest.
Coutinho emerged as a renewed target for the Spanish champions, who are expected to firm up their interest with an approach for the playmaker next summer.
But Klopp believes that the in-form Brazilian, whose current Reds contract expires in 2020, is content with his current life at Anfield.
He said: “My opinion is that he feels really well here.
“We all hope and think that his future is here at Liverpool.
“What everybody forgets when you think about Phil is that he’s still very young.
“At 24, he’s still young and has a long way to go, a lot of space for improvement.
“But of course, he’s now at the age where the skills he has, mixed with the experience he gained in the past, give him more consistency.
“He’s started, he’s not finished. So that’s all good.”
Klopp also outlined his blueprint in Liverpool’s efforts to present clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid from preying on their star assets, as the pair have done in recent years.
“It is about creating the perspective that no-one wants to leave,” added the German.
“If there is a club that can pay double what we pay then I will bring the player there because who am I to say: ‘No, no no, please don’t think about the family and the kids and the grandkids and their kids’.
“But I don’t know a lot of clubs in the world who are able to do this.
“First of all, before we talk about money, we have to create an atmosphere in and around the club where no-one wants to leave.
“At this moment I am not worried about anything. The players like to be here and it is our job to make sure it stays like this.”
