Ronald Araujo admits that his move to Liverpool is a ‘necessary’ one.
Araujo became the second summer addition for Andoni Iraola’s side after sealing an initial season-long loan switch from Barcelona on Monday.
The Uruguay international, who has chosen to wear the No.33 shirt at Anfield, steadily rose to prominence during seven years with the Spanish champions.
Although he won three La Liga titles and was one of the captains in Catalonia, Araujo feels that joining the Reds was paramount to his career development.
He said: “I think it was the ideal move for me at this stage in my career.
“I think it was a move that was necessary for me to take.
“As soon as I heard that interest from Liverpool, everything went into action really, really quickly.
“I’m super-happy to be here and excited to get started. I’m glad about the interest and it was the right move at the right time.”
