Andoni Iraola is set to hold talks with Curtis Jones over his Liverpool future.
Jones continues to attract interest from Inter Milan, whose most recent offer last month fell short of the Anfield club’s £35 million valuation of their homegrown talent.
He was also the subject of an approach from the Serie A champions in January but a move failed to materialise despite him making just 18 Premier League starts.
The midfielder is now in the final 12 months of his current Reds’ contract, which will allow him to negotiate a free transfer when the winter transfer window re-opens.
Iraola confirmed on Monday that he plans to speak with Jones in attempts to break the deadlock and hopefully convince him to extend his stay with his boyhood heroes.
He said: “I will have the chance to speak with him today.
“I rate Curtis very highly. For me he is a great, great player and I hope he can continue with us and continue performing the way he has been performing.
“It’s very important that he’s Scouse, that he’s from here. I also like the personality.
“From the outside at least he looks like a player with good character and I hope we can keep him, not only for this year but for more time.”
