Liverpool forward set for Iraola future talks

Federico Chiesa is seeking clarity with Andoni Iraola over his Liverpool future.

Chiesa has started just two Premier League games and played a combined 422 minutes since joining on a £12.5 million deal from Juvetus in summer 2024.

The Italy international made just three appearances, all of them from the substitutes’ bench, in the final three matches of Arne Slot’s ultimately doomed Anfield tenure.

Amid growing uncertainty, Chiesa has confirmed that he will hold talks with new Reds head coach Iraola in talks following the club’s pre-season tour of America.

“If I don’t find consistency in the Premier League, I’ll have to look elsewhere,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I barely played in my first year at Liverpool, and in the last one, very little.

“I’ll go on a training camp in the US, then I’ll talk to the club and the new manager, Iraola, and we’ll see.”

He added: “I’ve played very little since the start of 2026. I have a great relationship with Liverpool.

“In January, the club and Slot told me I couldn’t leave; they needed me, partly for numerical reasons.

“We were in a tight spot. I understood the situation and I was left smiling. Liverpool is always talked about; last year they helped me win the Premier League.”
