Ibrahima Konate has confirmed he is facing a spell out of action.
The Liverpool defender suffered a knee injury late on in Wednesday’s Champions League win over Real Madrid and had to be helped off the pitch.
Arne Slot admitted that it was ‘not a good sign’ that both Konate and Conor Bradley picked up issues ahead of this weekend’s clash with Manchester City.
Konate underwent assessment on his injury at the Reds’ training ground after the game and confirmed on Friday that he is sidelined for the foreseeable
“So frustrating to pick up this injury right at the end of a great game on Wednesday night,” he wrote on Instagram.
“Now we start the recovery process but one thing I promise is I will come back and be the best I can be once again.
“Thank you for the amazing support at Anfield. Inshallah we will keep going and I will support the team every step of the way.”
Joe Gomez or Jarell Quansah are set to fill the void during Konate’s absence while Trent Alexander-Arnold will replace understudy Bradley at right-back.
