Liverpool to lose Alisson for up to six weeks

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson is facing six weeks out of action.

The Brazil international was withdrawn during the closing stages of last weekend’s win over Crystal Palace with a suspected hamstring problem.

Arne Slot admitted post-match that he did not expect the Reds’ first-choice stopper to feature in his side’st first post-international break clash against Chelsea.

But scans have now revealed the full extent of Alisson’s latest injury setback, which is expected to keep him out until after November’s international break.

It means he will also miss this month’s clash with Arsenal in addition to the upcoming Champions League showdowns with RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen.

Alisson’s previous hamstring injury kept him out of contention for Liverpool’s back-to-back wins over Bournemouth and West Ham in the Carabao Cup.

Caoimhin Kelleher is expected to fill the void in his absence despite missing the Selhurst Park game with illness, forcing third-choice Vitezslav Jaros to deputise.
