Kearns leaves Liverpool Women for Aston Villa

Liverpool Women midfielder Missy Bo Kearns has joined Aston Villa.

The homegrown midfielder made over 100 appearances for the Women’s Super League outfit after breaking into the first team in the 2018/19 season.

Kearns was integral as Matt Beard’s side secured their long-awaited return to the top flight by winning promotion at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.

She was also crowned the Reds’ Player of the Season twice in 2020/21 and 2022/23.

But the 23-year-old signed for the Villans on Thursday for an undisclosed fee to bring the curtain down on a 15-year spell representing her lifelong club.

“After 15 years at this football club, it’s been so hard to say goodbye,” said Kearns.

“Liverpool FC is part of me. I’ve been here since I was eight, I’ve been a fan since I was born.

“I think little me would just be fascinated that all her dreams have come true. Playing 100 games for this team, I never thought it would be possible.

“It’s hard to put into words the feeling of it unless you got to experience what I’ve experienced.

“Every single game, every single day when you’re putting the kit on, I’ll never take a day of wearing this shirt for granted.

“It’s been the best days of my life. I just want you to know that if you put your mind to it dreams can come true and there’s nothing better than living your childhood dream day in, day out.

“I’m forever grateful for all the support you give me and the love you show towards me. Liverpool fans are the best fans in the world and that’s that.

“I’m excited to see how far the club can go. I really hope it keeps progressing and gets to where I think this club should be.

“I hope you all understand that the decision I’m making is for my career. All my experiences, my learning, I’ll be bringing them with me and one thing I’ll be taking with me is ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.”
