Virgil van Dijk admits Liverpool are prepared for penalties in the Carabao Cup final.
Sunday’s meeting with Chelsea will be a rerun of the 2022 showpiece at Wembley when Jurgen Klopp’s side emerged triumphant 11-10 in a shootout.
History repeated itself when the sides met in the FA Cup final as the Reds claimed a second trophy of season over the Londoners after more spot kicks.
And Van Dijk has revealed that the Anfield club have prepared for every possible scenario as they take on the side they trounced 4-1 weeks earlier.
Asked whether Liverpool are practising penalties ahead of the final, he replied: “Yeah, we already did a little bit over the last couple of weeks.
“We’ve already been in the cup competitions with the FA Cup before and obviously the Carabao Cup as well.
“So we already know and we’ve been practising and yeah, obviously the next couple of days will definitely be an opportunity to hit a couple.
“But at the end of the day, you can practice all you want in training, but to do it in a game at Wembley Stadium, a full stadium, is a totally different environment.
“I think you have to be fully focused on what you want to do and just go for it.”
Despite the additional preparations, Van Dijk insists there are no guarantees and cited his own penalty miss at the 2022 World Cup as a valuable lesson.
He added: “Listen, we’re working together, so every little percentage that we can work on we do.
“Like I said, to stand in front of all these fans and keep your nerve is not easy. You can practice all you want, you can score so many penalties in training like this.
“For example, in Qatar, we trained almost every day and I scored everything and then obviously when the moment came, I missed.
“That’s part of the game, unfortunately. Hopefully we can decide it in regular time.”
The Netherlands international also remains wary of Chelsea’s potential threat at Wembley despite their Premier League hammering at Anfield last month.
“The result obviously looks a lot better,” he admitted.
“We could have scored more, but I think they were dangerous though. I think first half with the way they set up, they tried to get me and Ibou [Konate] in difficult situations.
“We’re gonna to try and sort that out. They’re a good team and I think they showed that as well.
“They have a fantastic manager and it will be very, very difficult game. But we have to make it very difficult for them, so we’ll see.”
