Liverpool rename iconic Melwood training base

Liverpool have renamed their new women’s team training ground at Melwood.

Matt Beard’s side moved into the West Derby facility earlier this month after the club’s former first-team nerve centre was renovated during the summer.

Anfield’s senior squad ended a seven-decade spell at Melwood in favour of relocating to their purpose-built £50 million AXA Training Centre in 2020

The insurance giant’s will now also be incorporated into the new home for the Reds women’s team with its rebranding as the AXA Melwood Training Centre.

Liverpool’s commercial director Ben Latty said: “It’s fantastic to see our partnership with AXA expand to show their commitment to both the women’s team and the men’s team, which aligns with the ‘One Club’ approach we have here at LFC.

“We are delighted that AXA have taken this opportunity to further their relationship with the club and it comes at an exciting time for our women’s team in their fantastic new home at the AXA Melwood Training Centre.”
