Darwin Nunez is the new owner of Liverpool’s legendary no.9 shirt.
Nunez wore the no.27 shirt previously occupied by Divock Origi following his arrival from Benfica last summer for what could be a potential club-record fee.
But Roberto Firmino’s departure has freed up the Reds’ no.9 spot, allowing the Uruguayan to take up the number he had worn for the Portuguese club.
He becomes the 12th occupant of Anfield’s famous digit in the Premier League era, joining illustrious figures including Ian Rush and Robbie Fowler.
Nunez is the second Liverpool player to change his existing squad number this summer after Luis Diaz opted for the no.7 shirt vacated by James Milner.
