One of the match officials for the Merseyside derby has been stood down.
John Brooks was due to oversee VAR for Monday’s showdown between Liverpool and Everton but has been replaced just hours before the game.
The 33-year-old has also been taken off duty in the Premier League’s top-of-the-table encounter between Manchester City and Arsenal on Wednesday.
Brooks is facing growing scrutiny after drawing the offside line in the wrong place for Brighton’s disallowed goal against Crystal Palace last weekend.
Referees’ chief Howard Webb will convene an emergency meeting in light of Brooks’ error and another by Lee Mason during Arsenal’s draw with Brentford.
The PGMOL, who supply and oversee referees in the English top flight, have installed Andre Marriner as Brooks’ VAR replacement for the Anfield clash.
