Liverpool Legends to host Celtic in March

Liverpool Legends will host Celtic in the latest LFC Foundation match.

The clash on Saturday, March 25 is set to mark the seventh game held at Anfield which will aim to build on the £5 million raised for local charities.

Xabi Alonso headed up a team of ex-Reds players that rolled back the years in September to secure a Legends of the North double over Manchester United.

Over £500,000 was generated by the Red Devils’ visit while Barcelona, AC Milan, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have previously provided opposition.

Full line-ups will be confirmed in due course, with Danny McGrain, Alan Stubbs and Tommy Johnston previously turning out for the Scottish giants.

Matt Parish, chief executive of LFC Foundation, said: “We are pleased to announce our seventh home official legends charity match against Celtic Legends next year and we are very much looking forward to welcoming the LFC family to Anfield for a fun-filled afternoon.

“I’m always overwhelmed by the support and generosity we receive that enables us to support more children, young people and families in underserved communities across the Liverpool City Region and beyond through our programmes and our charity partners.

“Both clubs have a shared history and I’ve no doubt that the legends will put on a fantastic and competitive display of football for all to enjoy.”

Tickets for the charity match are priced at £27 for adults, £7 for juniors and £17 for over 65s.

Season ticket holders can buy tickets from 1pm on Monday, December 12, Members from 1pm on Tuesday, December 13 and the general sale will take place from 1pm on Thursday, December 15.
