Joachim Andr has revealed death threats were sent to him following Darwin Nunez’s red card.

Nunez was sent off in his Premier League start for Liverpool on Monday after headbutting the Crystal Palace defender during a penalty-area confrontation.

But the fallout from the incident in the 1-1 draw led to Andersen receiving several hundred abusive messages aimed at him and his family on Instagram.

The Denmark international, 26, shared screenshots of some of the offending messages sent to him on social media and since spoken to police about them.

He said: “Got maybe 3-400 of these messages last night. I understand you support a team but have some respect and stop (acting) tough online.

“Hope Instagram and the Premier League do something about this.”

Nunez later issued an apology through his Twitter account for the incident while Jurgen Klopp acknowleged that the player’s actions merited dismissal.

“Definitely the wrong reaction,” admitted the Liverpool manager.

“A clear red card, I cannot deny that. He will learn from that.

“Unfortunately, he has now a few games’ time to do so.

“That’s not cool for us in our specific situation, even less, but that’s how it is.”
