Liverpool will be without Alisson for their Community Shield showdown.
Alisson has not featured for Jurgen Klopp’s side throughout pre-season since sustaining an abdominal injury during a friendly with Manchester United.
The Brazil international was expected to be in contention for this weekend’s clash with Manchester City at the King Power Stadium after resuming training.
But Klopp confirmed on Thursday that the Reds’ goalkeeper is now set to return in time for the Premier League season opener at Fulham on August 6.
Diogo Jota will also sit out the game against the reigning champions with a hamstring issue picked up in Portugal’s Nations League game with Switzerland.
“Alisson and Diogo have no [chance],” said Klopp.
“Ali trained today more than the day before so he will be definitely available for Fulham, but not for the weekend.
“It’s the same for Diogo. Diogo was not here with us so how could he play a football game? That will take a while unfortunately. That’s it.”
Third-choice stopper Adrian is expected to be drafted into Liverpool’s line-up at the King Power, having featured in all bar one of their pre-season games.
Alisson’s understudy Caoimhin Kelleher did not feature in the club’s travelling party for the tour of the Far East and subsequent Austrian training camp.
