Mohamed Salah reaffirms La Liga desire

Mohamed Salah has reiterated his desire to someday play in La Liga.

Salah admitted that he was open to the prospect of joining Real Madrid or Barcelona in future during a rare interview with AS newspaper in December.

Uncertainty over the Egyptian’s future grew after his agent responded to his substitution in Liverpool’s defeat to Chelsea earlier this month with a cryptic tweet.

In an interview with Marca published on Tuesday, Salah again admitted that he is attracted to the idea of playing in the Spanish top flight at some stage.

The Reds’ top scorer also again hinted that a decision over whether he stays on Merseyside lies squarely with the defending Premier League champions.

“It’s not up to me,” admitted Salah.

“We will see what happens, but I prefer not to talk about that right now.

“I hope to be able to play for many more years, so why not?

“No one knows what is going to happen in the future, so maybe one day, yes.”

Salah looked ahead to Liverpool’s Champions League quarter final clash with Real Madrid next month, a rematch of the 2018 showpiece between the sides.

Asked about the comparisons between Zinedine Zidane’s team which triumphed in Kiev and the current incarnation, he said: “It’s different.

“They’ve lost some great players, like Cristiano Ronaldo – the best in the club’s history, someone that scored so many goals.

“At the same time, they’ve signed [Eden] Hazard. Eden’s been unlucky, he’s been injured… But it’s a different team.

This team is in the quarter finals, it has great players, although they’ve lost Ronaldo’s goals… I can’t say which is better.

“All I can say is that they’re in the quarters now, that I’m sure they’re prepared and… that we have to be ready to face them.”
