Klopp ‘doesn’t feel’ top-six record pressure

Jurgen Klopp ‘doesn’t feel’ the pressure of Liverpool’s poor top six away record.

Sunday’s clash with Chelsea will see the Reds looking to improve their current run of form on trip to face teams within the Premier League’s upper echelons.

Since their last victory at Stamford Bridge in September 2016, the European champions have won just once in 12 away fixtures to their top six rivals.

During that time, their title rivals Manchester City managed to record seven wins while Crystal Palace have racked up maximum points on five occasions.

Klopp admits that Liverpool’s top six form does not make for pleasant reading but is not burdened by it ahead of this weekend’s encounter in west London.

He said: “It’s a nice comparison actually with the styles of play – Crystal Palace and Man City – but there are different ways to win away games and we have to find one.

“It’s not good news, this stat, but I don’t feel it. A lot of people said that the longer things like this happen, the more likely that it will change it.

“We go there, of course, to get a result. You cannot go to Chelsea and want a guarantee that you win the game. They’re just too strong for that.

“I’m unsure when it was, 2016 maybe, when we won against pretty much all the top six and all the other problems, so that’s how life is.

“Chelsea was last year pretty late again when we came from any international games and stuff like that.

“[Manchester] United last year was not a thrilling game but we could have won it anyway. Different reasons obviously.

“Arsenal as well, I thought we won there but it’s long ago so obviously a job to do. It’s all about the quality and the performance. What can I say?

“It’s not written in the stars that we are not allowed to win away against Chelsea but it’s obviously difficult and we should still try it.”
