Bobby Duncan is set to leave Liverpool for Fiorentina in a £1.8 million move.
Duncan’s future became the subject of controversy last week when his agent Saif Rubie accused the European champions of ‘mental bullying‘.
Rubie also claimed that the club’s sporting director Michael Edwards was responsible for ignoring the teenager’s mental well-being in negotiations.
Duncan was absent from Liverpool under-23s squad for their game with Southampton last Monday due to the apparent impact of the stand-off.
Jurgen Klopp responded by insisting the Anfield club still ‘really care’ about youth development when asked about the 18-year-old, a cousin of Steven Gerrard.
Fiorentina originally tabled a loan offer for Duncan with a view to a permanent £1.5m transfer that was rebuffed by the Reds earlier this summer.
But the Serie A side’s improved bid of £1.8m has now been accepted by Liverpool ahead of Monday’s European transfer window deadline.
Duncan scored 32 goals in his boyhood club’s youth ranks lasts season including a strike against former employers Manchester City in the FA Youth Cup final.
He had left the Etihad Stadium after a contract stand-off in which it was argued that his route into the Premier League champions’ first’team had been blocked.
