Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has earned a recall in the latest England squad.
Gareth Southgate included Oxlade-Chamberlain as one of four Liverpool players to feature in his 25-man selection for the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers.
The midfielder’s teammates Jordan Henderson, Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold make up Anfield’s quartet for the double header with Bulgaria and Kosovo.
Oxlade-Chamberlain’s last appearance for his country came in a friendly with Italy in March 2018, just a month before he suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury.
He eventually bounced back from a 12-month spell on the sidelines to feature for the Reds during their Premier League run-in and Champions League triumph.
And Southgate has admitted that Oxlade-Chamberlain would have been in line for a place in the Three Lions’ World Cup squad last summer prior to his injury.
He said: “I think we’ve been quite clear in that he would have been in starting XI for the World Cup had he been fit.”
Oxlade-Chamberlain will return to former club Southampton for England’s meeting with Kosovo, three days after the clash against Bulgaria at Wembley.
