Liverpool could draft in Michel Vorm to alleviate their goalkeeping crisis.
Attention has turned to the former Tottenham Hotspur and Swansea City stopper after the Reds suffered a raft of injuries in the opening weeks of the season.
Alisson is out for up to eight weeks with a calf injury picked up against Norwich City while Adrian suffered a swollen ankle in the Super Cup celebrations.
Although the Spaniard recovered in time for last weekend’s 2-1 win over Southampton, Jurgen Klopp is considering signing Vorm as further cover.
The Liverpool manager drafted in journeyman stopper Andy Lonergan, who helped the club out during pre-season, as a short-term backup to Adrian.
Holland international Vorm is available on a free transfer after leaving Spurs this summer and has been discussed as a potential signing for the European champions.
“A good third goalie at a top club is not a superfluous luxury, I have always said,” Liverpool’s goalkeeping coach John Achterberg told NOS.
“The arrival of Vorm has been discussed.
“Lonergan has more than 250 matches at Championship level and that sort of experience is not to be underestimated.
“And it’s not for nothing that [Caoimhin] Kelleher is Ireland’s youth international.”
