Roberto Firmino is set to return in time for Liverpool’s clash with Everton.
Firmino had appeared a doubt for the 233rd Merseyside derby after appearing to roll his ankle during the first half of last weekend’s draw at Manchester United.
But Jurgen Klopp has revealed that the Brazil international, who underwent a scan on the injury, could be in contention for the visit of Watford on Wednesday.
The Reds manager believes that Firmino’s rapid recovery makes his chances of featuring in Sunday’s Goodison Park showdown increasingly promising.
“He looks good, we were obviously lucky,” said Klopp.
“It is not as serious as we thought in the first moment, but if Bobby leaves the pitch it is not a good sign.
“We play tomorrow and it will be very close for that, but there’s still a chance for the derby.
“Because it’s Bobby, I would say ‘yes [there is a chance for Watford]’, but I don’t know if I would use that chance.
“Writing Bobby off is a big mistake because he recovers very quick.”
Should Firmino miss out against the Hornets, one of Daniel Sturridge, Xherdan Shaqiri or Divock Origi is expected to occupy Liverpool’s third attacking spot.
Klopp added: “They cannot do a lot to show me they are ready but that’s the nature of a club like Liverpool.
They don’t have 500,000 minutes but they have quality. If we have to change a few things, we have options.
“We will use one and maybe the second one in the game. If there’s anything good, then it’s only that Watford have no clue [about preparations].”
