Jurgen Klopp has been charged for comments made after Liverpool’s draw at West Ham.
Klopp argued that referee Kevin Friend’s performance during last Monday’s stalemate may have been affected by an oversight on the Reds’ opening goal.
Sadio Mane had broken the deadlock at the London Stadium with a strike which should have been ruled offside due to James Milner’s positioning in the build-up.
“As a human being, if I know I have made a big mistake in the first half, I don’t want to open the gap any more,” Klopp said at the time.
“Referees are obviously human beings, and I understand that, but I didn’t during the game because I had no clue that our goal was offside.”
The Football Association have now charged the Liverpool manager with ‘questioning the integrity of the referee and/or implied bias.
Klopp has until 6pm on Monday, February 18 to respond to the charge.
