Mohamed Salah will not face disciplinary action over his penalty against Newcastle.
The Liverpool forward both won and successfully converted the spot kick in his side’s Boxing Day win over the Magpies after being fouled by Paul Dummett.
Rafael Benitez claimed that the penalty awarded to Salah was ‘soft’ and changed the course of Wednesday’s game at Anfield against his former club.
Had the Football Association deemed the Egyptian’s reaction to Dummett’s challenge to be simulation, he would have faced a likely two-match ban.
But English football’s governing body confirmed it is not pursuing any retrospective action against Salah in light of the second-half incident.
His actions did not constitute meet the threshold to constitute deception of a match official, leaving him free for the clashes with Arsenal and Manchester City.
Liverpool currently hold a six-point lead atop the Premier League table ahead of Saturday’s showdown with the Gunners.
