Jurgen Klopp admits there is ‘nothing new’ on Loris Karius’ Liverpool future.
Karius is weighing up whether to accept a two-season loan offer from Besiktas after being displaced as the Reds’ first-choice goalkeeper by new signing Alisson.
The German’s bid to rebuild his Anfield career in the wake of his gaffes in May’s Champions League final defeat was undermined by a poor pre-season.
If accepted, Besiktas would have the option of making Karius’ stay permanent in the event of securing European qualification during his time in Istanbul.
But Klopp insisted on Friday that the 25-year-old’s situation remains unchanged.
He said: “There’s nothing new about Loris in the actual situation. Nothing is decided but if it happens, that’s how things go in football.
“It can happen to you as a manager. Usually you don’t need that much time between one game and the other to get the sack.
“But it’s not the sack, it’s only a [temporary] change if it’s like that.
“There’s nothing new to say about and things in football change. If they change then we will speak about it. Before that, I have nothing to say.”
The Liverpool manager also hailed Alisson’s start to life on Merseyside with back-to-back clean sheets since a £67 million arrival from Roma this summer.
“He’s settled in from the first second,” added Klopp.
“A good player, very good player and really not only a goalkeeper, a player as well so that’s quite cool. It gives us a few more opportunities, that’s cool as well.
“We have this kind of Brazilian group now plus Spanish with Alberto [Moreno] so I think that helps them as well even though Alisson’s English is quite good, as is Fabinho’s.
“Very happy so far. Hopefully it stays like this.”
